If you’re sporty then this is a great opportunity to push yourself a little further in aid of a great cause. Whether you’re thinking of running the Beckley 10k, the Hastings half marathon or taking on another athletic challenge, then we have all ideas and information you need.
So why not set yourself a challenge in support of Little Gate?
Challenging ideas!
Here are some suggestions to inspire you to push your boundaries:
Sign up for a run
Whether you’re a complete novice going from couch to 5K or an experienced runner wanting to push yourself that little bit further, now’s the time to see what you’re really capable of!
You could even join the other Little Gate supporters who regularly run in our local Hastings half marathon and Beckley 10k.
Get on your bike
If running isn’t your thing, why not try a cycling challenge?
The 1066 circular cycling route could be the one for you. It’s a strenuous 43 mile route which goes right past Little Gate Farm. With over a dozen climbs of 35 to 100m it’s not for the fainthearted! Why not get a group of friends together and challenge yourselves to make it round?
A big walk for Little Gate
If you prefer a gentler pace you can still notch up plenty of miles with a walking challenge. We’re blessed with so many wonderful places to walk in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that you’ll be spoilt for choice!
One idea would be to walk the 28 miles of the Royal Military Canal Path, which runs just south of us. And, if you’re really determined, perhaps you could walk back again as well?!
For water babies
There are plenty of ways to challenge yourself with a swim. Whether it’s to swim a mile in your local pool, or taking part in an outdoor swimming event, there are opportunities out there to suit every standard of swimmer.
Triathlons and obstacle courses
If want a challenge that’s a bit different, why not sign up for a triathlon or an obstacle course (many of which have a ‘mud’ theme!)? There are plenty to choose from throughout the summer, many having ‘novice’ categories for first timers. You can often enter as team as well as an individual.
Be extreme!
Ever fancied skydiving, wing walking or abseiling? We could be your perfect excuse to give it a try!
Every penny raised goes towards helping people with learning disabilities and autism obtain the skills and confidence they need to succeed in paid employment. Thank you … and good luck!
